2013 Miami University Young Painters Competition for the $10,000 William & Dorothy Yeck Award

Through the generous gift from William (Miami University Class of 1936) and Dorothy Yeck of Dayton, Ohio, Miami University has a unique opportunity to provide students and the community at large to develop a critical understanding of painting in the 21st century. The competition winner will be awarded the $10,000 William and Dorothy Yeck Award and the painting will become part of Miami University’s permanent collection.

ArtsWave 2013 Annual Community Campaign Kick-Off on Fountain Square

BACKGROUND: ArtsWave, the region’s largest funder of the arts, kicks off its annual community campaign on Friday, February 8th on Fountain Square at Noon. 2013 ArtsWave Campaign Chair George Vincent will announce the fundraising goal for the campaign in brief remarks beginning at noon.

National Film Festival Celebrates Our Differences

Premiere Night for ReelAbilities: Cincinnati will take place at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on March 9th. Cincinnati, Ohio – January 28, 2013 – Founded in 2007 in New York, ReelAbilities is the largest national film festival dedicated to sharing the stories, lives and art of people with disabilities.

Carnegie Gallery Director Bill Seitz to Retire

(COVINGTON) January 22, 2013 – Bill Seitz, Gallery Director at The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, has announced that he will retire on March 4, 2013. Seitz has been with The Carnegie since 1995. A working artist for more than 26 years, Seitz’s post-Carnegie plans are to return to life as a full-time artist.

Call for Entries: Manifest Gallery

All artists included in the project receive a complimentary copy of the full-color companion exhibit catalog. Art and Science are intertwined throughout history. New media in art arise from a variety of places– sometimes the artist's lab, sometimes the scientist's and engineer's, and other times from someplace completely unexpected.

2013 Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowship

Now in its 8th year, the Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowships were established to increase public awareness of contemporary visual art in the Midwest. The intent of the fellowship is to reward creativity and encourage emerging and established individual artists by supporting their artistic development.
